Good Morning! Today’s Bible Reading is – 3 And all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure, just as he is pure. 1 John 3:3 (NLT)
I can’t do this like this: yes the verse has a point in and of itself but the context is still necessary so I will post the two verses previous –
1 See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him. 2 Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is. 3 And all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure, just as he is pure. 1 John 3:1-3 (NLT)
The context of verse 3 is who God is to us and who He made us to be: He made us to be like Him. Do you understand that the main temptation Satan used against Eve in Eden is actually how God intended us to be…? God wants us to strive to be like Him. He wants us to strive to do and show others right things and right ways, to exude love and kindness from every pore, to understand that if evil is a part of us evil will destroy us and to transfer that knowledge to those around us and know evil will be the destruction of those that live it and Jesus will be the Salvation of those that overcome it. Being a member of God’s household is already the most beautiful and awesome thing we can know… but we haven’t seen anything yet: do you understand what “We will be like Him” truly means? Satan’s lie in Eden actually used something that was to be an eternal truth and then distorted it with the only action that could make that truth not happen: God knows what evil is but He has never allowed it to become a part of Him. In deceiving Eve into disobedience Satan got Eve to swallow something God never intended for us to have to endure: but He knew we would. Knowing the poison that eating of that knowledge of evil put into every soul: the very thought of being able to accept the Gift we didn’t deserve, the Gift of Salvation is like pure light in utter darkness… but to be held in the arms of pure righteousness for eternity… “Company is coming and we have cleaning to do!”
Good Day and Godspeed!
P.S. It wouldn’t hurt to read all of 1 John.
